About Copy.ai

Copy.ai has pivoted from a popular AI writing tool into a 'GTM AI platform' that automates go-to-market busywork — prospecting, CRM enrichment, and content pipelines — through multi-step workflows. The Chat plan is $29/month ($24/month billed annually) with 5 seats and unlimited words; workflow automation starts on the Growth plan at $1,000/month (billed annually) with 20K monthly credits. There is no free plan for new customers, and the company was acquired by Fullcast in October 2025.

Pros

  • Unlimited words in chat at $29/mo — no word-count meter
  • Workflows genuinely replace manual GTM tasks like enrichment and outreach drafts
  • OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google models under one subscription
  • Chat plan includes 5 seats, where rivals charge per user

Cons

  • No free plan anymore — the old free tier was sunset for new customers
  • Workflow features start at $1,000/mo — a huge jump from the $29 Chat plan
  • Pure writers get little here that Rytr or Writesonic don't offer for less
  • Trustpilot sits at 1.8, heavy on billing complaints

Our verdict

Best for: Revenue teams that want prospecting, enrichment, and content automated in one GTM platform.

Skip if: You just need an AI writer — the $29 Chat plan is ordinary and the real platform starts at $1,000/mo.

Our review

Editorial score: 4.0 out of 5

Copy.ai made the boldest strategic move of any AI writing company: it stopped being one. The product that once competed with Jasper and Writesonic for blog-post supremacy now sells GTM automation — multi-step workflows that scrape prospect data, enrich CRM records, and generate personalized outreach at scale. For revenue-ops teams, that's a real and differentiated pitch, closer to Clay than to any writing tool, and deployments at companies like Siemens and Lenovo plus a claimed 17M+ users give it credibility.

The pricing architecture tells you exactly who it no longer wants. The $29 Chat plan — unlimited words, five seats, choice of OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google models — is decent value but unremarkable next to ChatGPT or Claude at $20. The platform's actual differentiators sit behind a $1,000/month annual-commitment wall, and there's nothing in between. The free tier that built its 17-million-user funnel is gone for new signups, and a 1.8 Trustpilot score heavy on billing complaints suggests the transition left bruises.

The October 2025 acquisition by Fullcast, a RevOps planning platform, completes the story: Copy.ai is now the execution layer of a sales-operations suite, not a writing product with a roadmap for writers.

Verdict: worth a serious look for GTM and RevOps teams with real automation budgets — the workflow engine does things Jasper can't. Writers and solo marketers should treat the pivot as their exit cue: Writesonic, Rytr, or a general assistant delivers more for far less.

What reviewers elsewhere say

68% positive GTM teams like the workflow automation and unlimited-word chat; writers and former free users are sour on the pivot, the pricing gap, and billing.

Frequently asked questions

What is Copy.ai?

Copy.ai is a go-to-market AI platform that grew out of a popular AI copywriting tool. It combines a multi-model chat assistant with workflow automation for prospecting, CRM enrichment, and content operations, and has been part of Fullcast since October 2025.

How much does Copy.ai cost?

The Chat plan is $29/month ($24/month billed annually) with 5 seats and unlimited words. Workflow plans are annual-only: Growth at $1,000/month, Expansion at $2,000/month, Scale at $3,000/month, plus custom Enterprise pricing.

Does Copy.ai have a free plan?

Not anymore. The old free tier was sunset for new customers during the GTM pivot; the cheapest way in today is the $29/month Chat plan.

Does Copy.ai have an API?

Yes, on the Enterprise plan — API access and bulk workflow runs are Enterprise features, so programmatic use requires a custom contract.

Is Copy.ai better than Jasper?

They've diverged. Jasper doubled down on marketing content with brand voice and campaign workflows; Copy.ai bet on sales-and-marketing automation with CRM-connected workflows. Writers should compare Jasper or Writesonic; RevOps teams comparing automation should look at Copy.ai and Clay.
