About Grammarly
Grammarly is the most widely adopted writing assistant, working across the browser, desktop apps, mobile, and integrations like Word and Google Docs. The free plan covers grammar, spelling, and tone detection with 100 AI prompts per month; Pro ($12/month billed annually, 7-day free trial) adds full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustment, fluency help, plagiarism and AI detection, and 2,000 AI prompts monthly. Since 2025 it has been one product inside the Superhuman suite alongside Docs, Go and the Superhuman Mail email client — Grammarly Pro does not include Mail.

Our verdict
Best for: Anyone who writes daily and wants consistent polish everywhere they type.
Skip if: You want AI to draft content from scratch rather than improve what you wrote.
Our review
Editorial score: 4.5 out of 5Grammarly's moat is ubiquity. It lives in the browser, the desktop, Word, Google Docs, and your phone keyboard, quietly upgrading everything you type — which is a fundamentally different proposition from opening a chatbot to draft something. For pure correctness and clarity checking it is still the best-in-class default.
The AI era has squeezed it from both sides: chatbots draft from scratch, and its own generative features (100–2,000 prompts a month) feel bolted on rather than core. Heavy users also know the failure mode — accept every suggestion and your writing gets grammatically flawless and stylistically beige.
One structural note: Grammarly is now one product inside the Superhuman suite, alongside Docs, Go and the Superhuman Mail email client. Nothing about the writing assistant has changed, but the pricing you see quoted for "Superhuman" often refers to the suite rather than to Grammarly, and Grammarly Pro does not include Mail.
Verdict: the easiest recommendation here for anyone who writes daily in many places. Just treat its suggestions as a copyeditor, not a ghostwriter.

What is Grammarly?
Grammarly is the most widely adopted writing assistant — it checks grammar, spelling, clarity, and tone everywhere you type, from the browser to Word and Google Docs.
What does the free plan include?
Grammar, spelling, and tone checks plus 100 AI prompts per month. Pro ($12/month billed annually, $30/month billed monthly) adds full-sentence rewrites, plagiarism and AI detection, and 2,000 prompts.
Will Grammarly write content for me?
It's polish-first: it improves what you wrote. It has generative AI prompts, but drafting long content from scratch is better served by tools like Jasper or ChatGPT.
Can developers integrate Grammarly?
No — Grammarly discontinued its Text Editor SDK and developer API in January 2024. There is no public API today.
Is Grammarly the same as Superhuman?
They share an owner, not a product. Grammarly acquired Superhuman (the email client) and Coda in 2025, then renamed the parent company Superhuman; the suite now covers Grammarly, Docs, Go and Superhuman Mail. Grammarly is still sold on its own at $12/month for Pro, and that does not include Mail — the cheapest suite tier with the email client is Business at $33/member/month. See our Superhuman Mail review if the inbox is what you are after.
