The 2026 version deserves a fresh look: entry pricing collapsed to $20/month, sessions run in parallel cloud environments, planning became interactive, and the Slack/Linear/Jira integrations mean tickets genuinely go in one end and pull requests come out the other. On the right task — a dependency migration, backfilling test coverage, a well-specified bug — it delivers the delegation dream the demo promised.

The catch remains the variance. When specs are loose, Devin can loop, chase wrong solutions, or quietly abandon the goal, and because compute is usage-metered, its failures cost real money — the $20 floor is an on-ramp, not a budget. Cognition's ~3.0 Trustpilot and near-empty G2 presence reflect a product that still polarizes, and every Devin PR needs a senior engineer's review, which bounds the headcount math.
