Replit's bet is that one browser tab can replace an entire development setup, and it largely pays off. Agent 3 takes a prompt, scaffolds a full-stack app, runs it, tests it, and deploys it to Replit's own hosting with a database and auth already wired in. That end-to-end loop — nothing to install, nothing to stitch together — is why the platform claims over 40 million users and why non-developers can genuinely ship working software here.

The costs are the catch. The $25 Core subscription is only the entry fee; Agent work beyond the included $25 of credits is billed by effort, and complex builds with many checkpoints can multiply the bill several times over — the dominant theme in Replit's 3.1 Trustpilot score. The other trade-off is code quality at scale: Agent-built apps accumulate structure a developer wouldn't choose, and untangling that later is real work.
