Figma won product design by making collaboration the default — one URL, everyone in the file, no version chaos — and its 2026 AI layer builds on that position rather than reinventing it. Figma Make is the standout: prompt-to-working-prototype, then edit by chat or straight in the generated code, which collapses the mockup-to-proof-of-concept gap that used to take days. First Draft, AI image tools, and the Dev Mode MCP server round out an AI story that's genuinely integrated into how teams already work, not bolted on.

The trade-offs are price architecture and credit anxiety. The seat-type system ($3 Collab / $12 Dev / $16 Full billed annually) is fair in principle, but Organization and Enterprise pricing ($55–90 per Full seat, annual-only) makes scale expensive, and the AI credit pools reset monthly whether you used them or not.
